Membership

You can become a member of Tonganoxie Christian Church via baptism or via transfer:

Baptism

Those who want to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior can do so at any time. Our ministers are happy to to talk to you and answer any questions you may have prior to making this decision. After making the decision, we simply ask that you follow the Biblical pattern of making that decision public and being baptized by immersion. You can come forward during any of our worship services during the time of invitation after the sermon to make your confession of faith public. After that confession you can be baptized by immersion immediately after the service.

Contact Dirk Scates if you would like to make a baptism decision.

Transfer

Those who have previously made a decision to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior may choose to identify themselves in membership with the Tonganoxie Christian Church. We welcome transfer decisions at any time. The only requirement is that the person has made a public confession of faith and been baptized by immersion somewhere else. If baptism by another mode (sprinkling, pouring, etc) was done, we ask that you participate in the biblical mode of immersion in concert with your transfer decision.

You can come forward during any of our worship services during the time of invitation after the sermon to make your reaffirm your public confession of faith.

Expectations of Membership

We have no formal tasks or duties of members other than to live out our vision: Love God and love people… even if it kills you. We expect all members to live up to that vision, which goes hand in hand with a decision for Jesus to be Lord.  Our expectation means that you should actively follow Christ and strive to grow in faith and maturity. Because such growth happens best when we are in community with other Christians, we expect that you will join with other Christians in a group that exalts Jesus through its actions to grow inward (building relationship with other Christians), outward (impacting others for God’s Kingdom), and upward (deepening relationship with God).

Check out the following tools to help you connect in a group and to evaluate how much of an impact Christ is having in your life:
